1954-1980
The Southern Baptist Convention Pastor’s Conference began in 1935. M.E. Dodd of Louisiana served as the conference’s founder and first president. In 1954, the SBC Radio and Television Commission began recording the proceedings of the annual meeting of the Pastor’s Conference. The conference meeting preceded the meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention and usually included four or five sessions. The conference included music, devotionals, prayers, a short business session that included the election of officers, and addresses and sermons.
Recordings in this presentation were transferred from reel-to-reel audio recordings. Each year of the proceedings follow the daily order of the conference. The 1972, 1973, 1974, 1978, 1979, and 1980 recordings include highlights of the Pastor’s Conference proceedings only. Users of these recordings should consult the conference programs to find the location of specific sermons and addresses. Some sermons/addresses will overlap onto two parts of the recordings.
