1894-1979
From 1963-1979, the Historical Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, at the request of professors, librarians, and graduate students in the seminaries of the SBC, compiled indexes of master’s degree theses and doctoral dissertations from the Southern Baptist seminaries. The Historical Commission prepared the indexes from data provided by the seminary libraries. The indexes include theses and dissertations generated at Golden Gate, Midwestern, New Orleans, Southeastern, Southern, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminaries. Graduate theses from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kansas, originally formed to educate both Northern and Southern Baptists, are included in Volume 1 of the index. Graduate theses from the Baptist Theological Seminary in Ruschlikon, Switzerland, are included in Volumes 3-5. The volumes are arranged by major field of study and include title, author, date, pages (when available), and degree awarded. Major fields of study contained in the indexes include Biblical Introduction and Archaeology; Biblical-Old Testament; Biblical-New Testament; Church History; Ethics, Christian or Social; Historical Theology; Inter-Departmental Studies; Missions and Comparative Religion; Music; Pastoral Ministry, Pastoral Care, and Church Administration; Preaching, Homiletics, and Evangelism; Psychology and Counseling; Religious Education; and Theology and Philosophy. The volumes also contain author and general subject indexes. Each volume is any word searchable.
