American Baptist Missionary Convention (1849, 1852-1854, 1859-1860),
Consolidated American Baptist Missionary Convention (1869, 1872, 1877, 1879),
American National Baptist Convention (1889-1891), and
National Baptist Education Convention (1892)
In the late 1970s the Historical Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention worked to microfilm certain African American Baptist resources. One such resource was the annuals of African American Baptist national bodies.
The annuals of these bodies usually provide their constitution and bylaws, proceedings of the annual meeting, reports of committees and organizations, information on finances, and some directory information. The American National Baptist Convention formed in 1886 in St. Louis, Missouri, with William J. Simmons as the Convention’s first president. The ANBC included African American women in its ranks. The chief emphasis of the National Baptist Education Convention centered on an education ministry in the leadership of the churches. The annuals are any word searchable.
