Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives Search Engine Tips
The Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives search engine allows you to search using queries or expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, as well as words grouped with parentheses (these type of searches are called Boolean searches). For example:
- Baptist Archives
- Using keywords together like this would find documents containing the words 'Baptist' or 'Archives'.
- Baptist or Archives
- This search, using the word or would find documents containing the words 'Baptist' or 'Archives'.
- Baptist and Archives
- A search using the word and would find documents containing the words 'Baptist' and 'Archives'.
- Baptist not Archives
- A search using the word not would find documents containing 'Baptist' but not 'Archives'.
- (Baptist not Archives) and Bible
- A search with parentheses like this would find documents containing 'Baptist', plus 'Bible' but not 'Archives'.
- Bible*
- This search with an asterisk at the end of your keyword would find documents containing words starting with 'Bible'.
