Proceedings and Reports – 1899-1940
In the late 1970s the Historical Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention worked to microfilm certain African American Baptist resources. One such resource was the annuals of African American Baptist bodies.
The Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention was formed in 1896-1897 by African American Baptists who disagreed with the leadership of the National Baptist Convention. These individuals formed the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Society. The Society changed its name to Convention in 1903. The digital resources in this presentation include the annual of the convention proceedings and reports of the Corresponding Secretary. The annuals and the reports are not complete. The annuals (1899-1940) include proceedings of the meeting, lists of officers and leaders, constitution and by-laws, reports, financial information, Woman’s Auxiliary proceedings, reports, and addresses. The reports of the Corresponding Secretary, 1922-1937, include the narrative report, photographs, mission station reports, financial information, and the Woman’s Auxiliary report.
