Light

1948-2004

Light is a publication of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (formerly Christian Life Commission) of the Southern Baptist Convention.  Light was first published in 1948 by the Social Services Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention and has continued on a changing and sporadic schedule, usually about four times per year.  Light was not published from 1953-1954 and 1967-1977.  The publication resumed in 1978 on a regular schedule, until it ceased publication again from 2013-2014.  The publication has occasionally held alternate titles including Christian Life Bulletin (1955-1958), For Faith and Family Magazine (May-December 2004), and Faith and Family Values (2005-2012).  The Ethics and Religious Commission (Christian Life Commission) deals with issues related to applied Christianity and moral and family concerns.  In recent years the Commission has added the task of dealing with concerns related to religious liberty and separation of church and state.
