1900-1930
The collection of lantern slides visually documents, primarily, the work of the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. The collection does include some images related to international missions. The slides were used by agents and missionaries to raise money for missions, while documenting the work of the HMB. That work includes Cuba, Panama, New Orleans, deaf work, mountain and rural missions, Indian missions, work with ethnics and immigrants, and images of churches. A listing of the 402 distinctive lantern slides is available in the archive collection finding aid.
