Home Department Magazine and The Better Home

1910-1946

The Home Department Magazine and The Better Home was a quarterly publication of the Extension Department of the Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.  The content was popular in style with articles related to home, family, and personal life for believing Christians.  A major purpose of the magazine was to interpret the values of Christian family life and give motivation and help to parents for Christian home building.  In addition to the articles, the publication included brief articles for home daily Bible readings.  This publication gave Southern Baptist women a prominent place for writing articles to a wide Baptist audience.  The Better Home was succeeded by the publication Home Life which began in 1947.  Original paper issues of the publication were scanned for years 1910-1913.  Years 1914 and following were scanned from mediocre quality microfilm, therefore some of the scans are of marginal quality.
