1877-1929
The Alabama Colored Baptist State Convention annuals usually include the constitution, proceedings of the annual meeting, reports of committees and organizations, information on finances, and some directory information. The Alabama Colored Baptist State Convention organized around 1868. Around 1886, the Baptist Women’s State Convention of Alabama organized. According to the constitution of the Women’s Convention, the object of the Convention was “to promote the cause of Christ by laboring for the upbuilding of Selma University, and by doing such mission work as is possible.” This digital presentation includes annuals of the Alabama Colored Baptist State Convention, years 1877-1929; and annuals of the Baptist Women’s State Convention, years 1891-1902. Most of these annuals were scanned from microfilm produced by the American Baptist Historical Society, who granted permission to make these resources available on the SBHLA website. Some original paper annuals from SBHLA holdings were also scanned. The annuals are any word searchable.
